Trendstop presents FashionUnited with a selection of women’s collections from the Spring/Summer edition of London Fashion Week 2025.
London designers have returned to their values and roots as a source of inspiration, reflecting the shift in consumer attitudes towards more thoughtful consumption. The use of colour, detailing and minimal design in collections that feature functional design and reduced materials and forms reflected a playful and optimistic spirit.
JW Anderson
Jonathan Anderson, who has been enlightened by the excesses in the fashion industry in recent years, took a minimalistic approach with his SS25 collection. Anderson’s SS25 collection was minimalistic, focusing on just four materials: cashmere, leather, sequins, and silk. He also showcased mini-skirt sweats and jackets as well as a conceptual version of the tutu. The interwoven giant knots and the blown-up constructions create a contrast in proportions. Practical and unfussy welly-biker hybrid shoes enhance clean-lined looks.
Roksanda
Agnes Denes’ environmental art inspired Roksanda Ilic. She explored themes similar to hers, such as excess, industrialization, and capitalism. She drew landscapes from her native Serbia, keeping ecological and human values in mind. Her signature billowing dresses were printed with blurred aerial photographs, while raffia, viscose and thick rope details referred to the wheat fields and farming villages surrounding her hometown. Ilincic added a playful touch to her designs with neon, feathers, and tinsel textures.
Burberry
Burberry, which has faced some challenges in the past, returned to the runway with a collection of practical and well-designed pieces for SS25. The brand’s signature outerwear features, such as vents, epaulettes, and storm flaps, were featured on jackets, dresses, and co-ords. Feather trims, pastel washes, and feminine florals added a feminine twist to the practical garments. Rugged leathers, protective denim, and rugged camouflage were also given a feminine update.
