Am I a swiftie? Yes. Do I love Detroit Lions football? Absolutely. Would I like my fashion and football worlds to collide with each other? Obvi.
The launch of Off-Season by Kristin Juszczyk, the creative genius behind Taylor Swift’s viral Chiefs puffer and wife to 49ers Kyle Juszczyk, was a sure sign that this brand would be redefining game-day style in the most fashion-forward way.
When I saw their exclusive first drop, which included the Detroit Lions team, my fashion-obsessed, football-loving heart nearly exploded.
When Football and Fashion Collide
The game of football has always played a major role in my life. At one time, I wanted to be the next Erin Andrews. I worked for ESPN 360 on the Lavar Dukes and Chad Arrington show. I also starred in a Very local talk show. I spent Sundays watching the Redskins with my father by a fireplace outside Washington, D.C. My firstborn’s very first outfit, a Redskins Onesie, was the result of my burgundy-and-gold bleed. (RIP to the Commanders of that era!) Fast forward to a decade, and after a move from New York City to Detroit and the birth of my daughter, I have shifted my focus and now share my love for the Detroit Lions.
When Off-Season was released with a limited release featuring only a few NFL teams, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this Lions puffer jacket. This piece is truly a game-changer.
First impressions: This jacket is the MVP of my wardrobe
The first thing I thought when I saw Taylor Swift wearing this custom jacket was, “I need that.” My second thought? Why should she not be a part of the next big thing for football fashion?
Years ago, I hated those pink generic “girl” jerseys that the NFL promoted. I was surprised that the NFL didn’t believe women deserved better. I wanted jerseys that fit in the team colours and not just a bubblegum pink one-size-fits-all afterthought. We’ve come a long way since the days when you had to shop in the XXL section of the kids’ clothing department to find something fitting. Off Season is a great example of how game-day style has evolved.
I am looking forward to seeing the variety of celebrities who will be featured on “Off Season” this year.
After much debate, I finally decided on the Off-Season Puffer Vest. Instantly, I knew this was not a trendy one-season wonder. It’s a jacket of unreal quality. It’s stylish and practical while still being warm. You’ll feel like you look put together even if you wear it to Target. Michigan winters can be and are not for the weak. But this jacket is warm without making me look like the Michelin Man.
The jacket’s functionality really stands out. The zippered pocket is deep enough to fit your phone, wallet, and keys. It can also hold kids’ snacks, Legos, Barbie’s Dreamhouse, or Legos. This means that I won’t need to worry about whether or not my “clear, index card-sized purse” will pass security requirements to enter the stadium during game day. It’s also water-resistant, so I can walk to Ford Field in the rain or snow.
The Verdict: Worth every Penny
Off Season Brand’s puffer jacket is essential for any fan who wants to be warm and stylish and proudly represent their team. It’s definitely worth it. Single. Cent. This isn’t another piece of fan merchandise–it’s an elegant, stylish jacket that combines team pride and modern street style. This is the type of jacket that will make you feel as though you are representing your team without appearing like you bought a hoodie at the stadium’s gift shop.
I can’t count how many compliments this jacket has received. And considering that the Lions are having a moment right now, I am fully prepared to look the best at every game and tailgate.
What I may have forgotten is that I wore the vest to the post-season game in which the Commanders knocked out the Lions from their record-breaking Season… Whoops. Is it bad juju or not? Maybe. Will I still hold my breath until the drop of Commanders? Absolutely.
As someone who is torn between the two NFC teams, I appreciate Kristin’s inclusive and no-stress motto. Instead of forcing my indecisive Libra to choose a team, Off Season says simply, “Welcome To The Team.”
