Sydney Sweeney Reveals Her Favorite Jeans and the Fashion Trend She Won’t Be Trying This Summer

It is a very personal thing to do. Outfit repeaters, vintage hunters, and emotional dressers are all common. While everyone enjoys a great fashion trend, at InStyle, we are also interested in the more subtle things: how jewellery can make us feel, the joy a favourite coat can bring on a cold winter day, or the way that a pair of shoes can complete a look. How I Get Dressed reveals the rituals and fashion tips of our favourite fashion tastemakers.

Sydney Sweeney was the kind of fashion editor who loved her high-low style. She loves American Eagle jeans, which are only $60. She is also a regular guest at the Venice Film Festival and the Miu Miu shows.

She walked the Met Gala in a beaded gown that Kim Novak inspired. But she ended the night with her German Shepherd outside the Carlyle Hotel, wearing a comfortable suit, instead of attending one of the many after-parties. Her IMDb profile is equally diverse, with everything from prestige TV (Euphoria) to the campy rom-com Anyone But You starring Glen Powell. She has a wide range in both fashion and life.

Her latest venture is no exception. Sweeney’s new Samsung campaign, which was released on May 13, features the actress in an eclectic series of vignettes. She plays a variety of characters, from an Old Hollywood starlet to a cool modern girl, and some of them are captured using the new Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge.

Sweeney spoke with Instyle to celebrate the launch of her new collection. She discussed her personal style, outfit formulas, and comfort level with “just being myself” when it comes to her fashion. You can read Sydney Sweeney’s Edition of How I Get Dressed.

Why She Loves A Flip Phone

Since I started working for Samsung, I have really enjoyed my flip phone. All my family and friends get excited when I pull out my flip phone. My two aunts, my grandfather and I all switched to flip phones because they were so obsessed with them. And my friends are always playing with it. It’s a great accessory. The camera has really improved my photography. You can customize your phone so much. I have mine set up to look like an old-style Mario Kart video game. It fits my personality.

How She Plans Her Outfits

What I wear depends on my mood and where I am. My go-to outfit is jeans and a T-shirt. My style is dictated by what I am doing or where I am. The different closets I have in other places reflect the mood of the place where I’m at.

She wears the same item on repeat.

American Eagle jeans are my current obsession. I’ve never felt more comfortable. When I saw my mom wearing [AE Jeans], I asked, “What are they?” Those look so good.’ American Eagle? No way! So I bought some American Eagle jeans. I am now a complete convert to American Eagle. I would highly recommend it. I don’t think I will ever go back.

Her favourite cut of jeans

I like my jeans to be looser. It depends on whether the jeans are low-rise or mid-waist. But I do not want anything too tight.

Her Beauty Philosophy

In my day-to-day life, I’m pretty simple. When I get a breakout, I use a little concealer and mascara to cover up my spots. I also love blush. Other than that, however, I do not really do much.

The Red Carpet Team She works with

I have been heavily reliant on my amazing glam squad [Melissa Hernandez & Glen Coco]. I can’t do half of what they do. Both are incredible artists. Molly Dickson is my stylist. We work together as a team. We communicate and work together. We ask ourselves, “Is this going to be a hair-moment? Will this be a wardrobe-related moment? It could be a moment of makeup.

We create mood boards and pass them around at every event. We are all very hands-on.

The fashion trend she won’t be trying anytime soon.

I dislike super-flat shoes. I like my sneakers a bit platformed. Recently, I’ve noticed a lot more flat shoes, and I don’t like that.

Why She Loves to Be a Miu-Miu Girl

They were the first fashion show that I attended. They’re my family. They’re like my sisters. I’ve grown in the fashion industry with them. They have embraced me and my personality and what I’m trying to explore and become. They have been so collaborative… We’ll exchange notes, and I’ll create mood boards, and they’ll send me sketches and 20 pages. Miu Miu has created every look, and we have collaborated on them. I am so grateful for the collaboration because not all designers are like that.

Her style in three words

I borrowed a lot from Cassie’s pants in Euphoria Season Two because they fit me perfectly. But I do not keep many clothes from my characters because I prefer to stay away from them. So, I haven’t really considered taking many clothes from my characters. Maybe I should.

What has her style changed?

I’m now more comfortable being me. It’s being comfortable in jeans and a T-shirt and not caring about what people think.

Her Inspiration for Her Latest Campaign

It’s slim and sleek. We tried out Where is Waldo? But where is the phone? We made it into a fun fashion shoot because the phone makes such a great fashion accessory. It’s small enough to slip into your pocket without anyone noticing. Nothing is more annoying than a big, bulky cell phone in your jeans.

There’s the Old Hollywood vanity mirror moment and scripts being read in bed. We have “Cool Girl.” We have “Cool Girl.” We got to play around with a bunch of cool setups. Dennis Leupold is a photographer that I admire. I enjoy a good relationship with him. We have been working together for several years. We invited him to [the project], where he was able to experiment with the phone and even shoot using it. What’s even more amazing is that it’s impossible to tell whether [the campaign] has been shot with a Samsung camera or a professional one.
