Here’s how to wear the trending colours of 2025, from Mocha Mousse to Mandarin Orange

You still haven’t gotten off the “new year, new me” bandwagon yet? You should be aware of the colours that will be popular in 2025. You can use this to decide what is in style and what isn’t based on the runway trends at Alaia Miu Miu Gucci, Valentino Fendi Fendi, Gucci and others.

Trending colours are great because there is something for everyone. You will be surprised if you try to break out of your comfort zone to see that certain shades of orange, yellow, and pink will still be in fashion for Spring-Summer 2020. You will love shades like champagne beige and black if you want to dress more comfortably and in a versatile manner.

Chocolate Brown

Pantone has declared Mocha Mousse the colour of the year 2025. It is “a rich, brown tone infused with earthy refinement”. Chocolate coffee is often associated with warmth, indulgence and nature.

This shade is common in suede and leather fabrics. This year, it is seen on light fabrics such as chiffon and dresses, as shown by Gucci. Max Mara also confirmed that skirts are ideal for office wear.

In fashion, chocolate brown is traditionally associated with pants. But in 2025, it will be seen in asymmetrical dresses, like those at Alaia or Coach, and miniskirts, like the trench coats worn over dresses on Dries van Noten’s debut runway without the Belgian design at the helm.

Deep Black

The colour black is elegant and classic for all seasons. It is a classic colour for all four seasons. The little black dress is the icon of sophistication and hedonism.

It is still being worn this year in both long and short dresses, as well as tailored suits. Both Victoria Beckham and Valentino wore it. While many might think it boring, it can be made interesting by using textures and silhouettes.

Chanel is a good example, as they have black jeans with sequinned hems and flocked furry bullfighters. Altuzarra uses the same formula with dresses that play with silhouette shapes.

Scarlet Red

Carolina Herrera showed scarlet red knitted looks for the autumn of 2025. Anyone who wants to be noticed should choose this naturally fiery shade. Think of Jessica Rabbit in Pretty Woman or Julia Roberts.

Butter yellow

The butter-yellow color will remain popular through 2025. Loewe and Jacquemus first saw it in 2020, but it is now back in 2024. Yellow is a colour of positivity, joy, and happiness. It’s perfect for summer.

Chloe wore a boho-style dress with delicate embroidery and transparent materials. Fendi opted for a more avant-garde and sporty version with cardigans and mini shorts. Jil Sander combines butter yellow with other trends, such as wearing dresses over pants. Akris, Coperni, and Akris all play with the idea of asymmetrical and strappy pieces.

Tangerine Orange

Charlize Theron’s Vera Wang tangerine dress, worn on the Academy Awards red carpet in 2000, confirms this colour is not just for sunsets. As seen on the GCDS catwalk, although you may think that tangerine is hard to match with black, it actually works.

Alberta Ferretti has shown us the most classic way of wearing it in a dress with transparency and vaporous fabric. Bottega Veneta also suggests sets with white.

Caroline Young states in The Colour of Fashion that “orange is a sign of fertility and love.” Botticelli’s The Birth of Venus depicts the colour orange, but now it is also associated with Hollywood glamour.

Champagne Beige

Champagne Beige is a shade that aligns with the minimalistic luxury aesthetic, which refuses to disappear from the runways. This shade reflects a sophisticated elegance when worn with satin textures, as Carven has proposed.

Courreges offers a simple and elegant way to do this by wearing matching shoes with simple lines. Giorgio Armani provides trench coats to wear over wide pants or short tops in summer.

Pink

Pink is a colour associated with femininity. This year, we’ll see it in an array of colours, from pastels to flamingos.

This combination of colours is natural. As seen in Carolina Herrera or Miu Miu by adding it to small details like earrings or a top underneath a dress.

Moss Green

The colour green is associated with luxury, style and health. On the Prada runway, it was combined with bubblegum, but we also saw it in Alexander McQueen’s flowing dresses and Saint Laurent’s sumptuous designs.

White

White, a colour of purity and elegance that represents the minimalism of the 90s that brands like Gucci and Tom Ford embodied, will appear in 2025 on jeans, blouses, and pants. The colour white will be a popular option for head-to-toe wear, whether in a sporty, utilitarian look like Dior or edgier, avant-garde looks such as Ann Demeulemeester.

Wine (Burgundy)

Maroon, or burgundy wine, is present every day of the year. There’s no escaping it. In the hot season, we will see knitted dresses like those worn by Nensi or flared jeans such as those worn by Etro. This colour is ideal for combining with lighter shades, like pink or green. It can also be used to create contrasts between black and white.
