DIY Mop And Bucket Cleaner

It is my favorite way to clean floors, a mop with microfiber and a sprayer. However, I am aware that sometimes a bucket and mop are the best way to clean floors. Or perhaps you prefer to use a bucket and mop to wash your floors. You can buy a variety of buckets and mops in shops and online. I prefer this bucket because it is easy to use and has a clean bucket. You can use what you already have or prefer. Here is a similar to the one shown.

For deep cleaning tiles, I use a bucket and mop. This is perfect for spring cleaning or deep cleaning. This tile is located in our Mudroom, and it becomes dirty very quickly when shoes are dropped on it, or dog dishes are placed there. Look at the dirty water!

Floor Washing Day is Thursday, so choose the best DIY floor cleaning formula and start mopping.

Note: Do not use anything acidic, such as vinegar or lemon juice, to clean marble, granite, or travertine tiles. The acid can etch them. Steam cleaners and the recipe for soap-based floors in this article work great.

Soap-based Floor Cleaning Solution (No Rinse Necessary):

This is the recipe I use on hardwood floors, but I prefer to use this method when using microfiber mops.

  • Warm water 1 gallon
  • Castile soap or Sal Suds, 1 teaspoon

A Vinegar-based Solution For Floor Cleaning:

  • White vinegar, 1/2 cup
  • Warm water 1 gallon

Clean laminate floors with this solution:

The vinegar is a cleaner, and the alcohol adds a disinfectant component. This combination will get your floors clean. You should work in small sections and use a bucket with a mop to dry the laminate as you go.

Combine equal parts of:

  • white vinegar
  • Rub alcohol
  • Water

Heavy-duty Cement Or Tile Floor Cleaner.

  • Borax, 1/4 cup
  • Hot water 1 gallon
  • 5 drops of lemon essential oil
  • 5 drops of orange essential oil

In a bucket for mopping, mix the Borax with water and essential oil, stirring until they dissolve. As you would normally mop. Rinsing your floors is not usually necessary. You can use a few drops of dish or castile soap to cut through dirt if your floors are particularly dirty. Instead of using the water from the cleaning bucket, you may want to keep a bucket with clean water to rinse. This will eliminate streaking.

When I am cleaning tile floors, if the grout needs to be cleaned more thoroughly, I use a grout brush with hot water, castile or dish soap, and Oxygen whitener. After giving the floors a good scrub, I then wash them.

It is very similar to the kentucky mop bucket system that I own. It works well and takes up little space. You can wring out the water by simply flipping the clip on the handle, putting it into the metal side of the bucket, and spinning. Easy as pie.
