What is Cuts Clothing?
Many producers claim to make the perfect T-shirt. Cuts is a Los Angeles label founded by Steven Borrelli in 2016. It is devoted to customizability. The brand’s designs are minimalist, to be sure, but they’re made from a proprietary material called Pyca. Borrelli’s original innovation was funded through Kickstarter. This led to the current Cuts collection, a mix of sweatshirts and polos designed for the “sport of business.”
Pyca is a high-stretch fabric made of a tri-blend of cotton, rayon, and polyester. This combination provides wrinkle protection, colour preservation, and long-term softness. It won’t wrinkle if it is crumpled in your bag, fade if it is washed, or pill if it is worn often. After a few weeks of testing, I discovered that the T-shirts kept their shape even when stretched out while exercising.
How to shop at Cuts Clothing in a Glimpse
Cuts Clothing allows you to design your perfect T-shirt from the hemline up to the collar. You’ll first need to decide whether you want your shirt to be fitted tighter or more regularly. You’ll then need to select a style (hence, the name), and you can choose between a split hem or an extended bottom cut. You can also choose from a V-neck or henley collar. After you have created your perfect T-shirt, you can select the colour.
After narrowing down the desired style of shirt, the only thing left to do is to choose the colour.
The Athletes Approval
Cuts are a favourite among athletes. NBA players Kevin Durant and Giannis Antietokounmp, as well as Damien Lillard, have all been seen wearing the designs. NFL stars Rob Gronkowski and Patrick Mahomes have also worn Cuts’ high-performance apparel. Cuts high-performance apparel is their go-to for those in-between moments, such as lunch, interviews, and even errands.
Cuts also attracted the attention of many publications. Wired writes that the custom PYCA fabric “has led to an unmatched style, innovative fit and comfort.” GQ writes, “They created the one shirt worth wearing.” Forbes highlights their versatility by saying that the simple shirt is “suitable for any occasion, including the boardroom, the beach, and anything in between”.
Far from Vintage
Vintage T-shirts are (and have always been) popular, but a functional, high-performing top is essential. Cuts offer a range of modern, minimalist shirts. The T-shirts are available in a variety of necklines: crew, v, or henley. At the bottom, they come in classic, curved styles, split on the side, or elongated for an oversized fit. The brand claims that each style has its advantages and is best paired with different outfits.
Curve Hem is a “regular bottom cut that’s elevated” to look like a dress shirt. This style eliminates the “bunching around the waist” and gives a “traditional fit” to the body. The split hem has a “dynamic functionality” that lends a “casual yet distinctive look”, aka more room in the torso. The Elongated look is also “crafted for the modern man,” the company says, referring to the growth of streetwear. The “extended curvature demonstrates true style with an urban feel,” they say.
Cuts = Custom
Cuts are successful because they can cater to many different customers and the needs of their everyday lives. Cuts is a brand that has some well-known ambassadors. However, most of its customers are guys just like you and I. Cuts make it easy to find the perfect T-shirt. Choose your favourite colour from dozens of options, divided into Staples or Seasonal, and two prominent design elements, the neckline and hem. If you like pink shirts, henleys and other modern streetwear styles, you can get them. They will stay the same when you next need one. All of the sweatshirts and polo shirts are made with PYCA or PYCA PRO, so you’ll always know what to expect. You’ll also see that they will not clash, as Cuts creates their products so that they complement each other.
What We Think About Popular Cuts Clothing Items
We have tested and vetted the most popular styles of cut clothing so you can get the inside scoop about what is worth your money from the brand.
AO Curved-Hem T-Shirt
The Cuts AO Curve Hem Tee is by far my favourite tee shirt. The cut and style are the primary reasons why people love the shirt, but I was more impressed by the fabric quality. The fabric is soft and stretches a little. It doesn’t fade or pill in the washing machine (not even my other premium tees). The fit is great, although I do think Cuts tees run on the smaller side.
AO Jogger
This is the first pair of joggers that I have worn where I feel like I am “dressing up”. They look professional because the fabric is sturdy and thick. The inseam of the pants is not too long. I got the size L with a waist size of 34, and the cuff sits above my ankle. This is my ideal length for a pair of joggers. These joggers look cool and crisp, unlike pyjamas or workout clothing you might decide to wear out to dinner. The AO Jogger paired up with the Prestige Polo and a pair of clean sneakers? I air kiss the look in Borelli’s Italian meatball style. This is the outfit I wear when I want to appear relaxed and cool as if I’m having a ball, but still in a modest manner.
Hyperloop Hoodie
I was looking for a new hoodie and chose Cuts’ Hyperloop Hoodie. The XL was the only size I chose, and it fit perfectly. However, there is more room for the torso, which makes the fit longer. When I purchased the Hyperloop hoodie, I was unaware that it had two side pockets for your hands. I rarely use them, but on a cold day, they are a great way to keep your hands warm. The pockets make it a bit boxier and less tapered at the waist. I do like hoodies that have more room. When it’s cold, I usually wear something thicker under, so a looser-fitting hoodie is a great option. The hood and neckline are also very appealing to me. It’s not a regular hoodie. I don’t even know what else to call it.
Prestige Polo
The Prestige Polo may be lower on Cuts’ list of popular items, but it is one of my favourites. The collars would get floppy, and the fabric would stretch. I never liked polos. The Prestige Polo is rich-looking, fits well, and doesn’t stretch out. The curved hem makes this polo more than just your typical frat-wear.
Call me old-fashioned, but you need something more than a tee to achieve the look of business casual. It’s because of this that I love the Prestige Polo—it is firmly business casual but still looks cool.
