Cottagecore fashion

Cottagecore has been around for a long time, and with good reason. What’s not to love about living in a cottage surrounded by nature and a wardrobe full of feminine, whimsical pieces that make you look like a modern Disney princess, with a charming closet?

Cottage care is as much of a style as it is fashion. It is charming, romantic, and cozy, all at the same time.

We have to acknowledge the influences that helped to shape this aesthetic. These include Taylor Swift’s Folklore and Evermore albums, Tumblr, and even Marie Antoinette, who built a rustic retreat as her getaway from palace life.

Cottagecore is a way to romanticize your life. This is a concept I can get behind. There’s no need to dress as if you were living in a cottage. You can even do some of the things you imagine doing in your cottage-core fantasy: go on a picnic, take a book out, bake bread, or learn how to knit.

You can enjoy life’s simpler moments by incorporating relaxing activities into your daily routine.

Let’s return to the aesthetic. You can channel your inner Cottagecore Girlie by using your imagination. Imagine yourself in the picturesque countryside, tending your garden or playing in a wildflower field. What would you wear? Build an outfit incorporating these elements to create your cottage-core look.

Cottagecore Dressing: Elements

Feminine, flowy silhouettes. This aesthetic is soft, feminine, delicate, and downright ethereal. Choose fabrics that are flowing and silhouettes with a romantic feel.

Vintage pieces. The vintage look is one of the most popular styles. But I’m not referring to decades gone by–I am referring to the 18th century. You can wear corsets, puffy sleeves, lace, ruffled necklines, and other items that Marie Antoinette might have liked.

Gingham and floral prints. Cottagecore is strongly tied to nature. Embody that through the photographs you choose. Gingham prints remind you of picnics at the cottage. Floral prints go without saying.

Choose earthy colors and light shades. Neutral colors help to evoke a cottage-core style that is inspired by nature. Avoid jewel tones and primary colors.

Textured Accents. Incorporate textured materials and accents into your outfits, such as velvet, lace, and knits for a vintage and handcrafted look.

Any cozy clothing If your cottage were comfortable, you would want to curl up by the fireplace with a book. Use this as an inspiration for getting dressed. Slouchy sweaters, crocheted knitwear, and rustic fabrics are all must-haves.

Whimsical Accessories Think of hair bows, printed hair scarves, straw basket bags, and cute jewelry such as lockets or pendant necklaces.

Cottagecore Outfits

Are you ready to try out the new trend? These 2023 cottage-core outfits are budget-friendly and will help you achieve the look.

Cottagecore Outfit #1

You can embrace the cottage-core look with a cute gingham dress, Mary Janes, and ruffled socks. This feminine look makes you feel like a modern Disney princess.

The sage and white gingham mini dress features all the feminine details you need for a cottage-core look, such as flap sleeves and knit jacquard material. It also has a bow tie on the neckline. Add a little girly flair with a satiny ivory barrette clip. Hair bows are a massive trend for this season.

Don’t forget to pair your sweet pair of Mary Janes with a block heel in chalk white. The shoes have a vintage look with their gold metallic accents.

Complement the look with fun jewelry, such as adorable mushrooms charm huggie hoops. (These would surely grow outside your cottage.) Or a cute faux-pearl heart signet rings.

Cottagecore Outfit #2

If you want a more relaxed cottage-core look appropriate for class, choose a lace-trimmed maxi skirt made of flowing, woven fabric and a cute sweater cardigan. This cardigan is short (which goes well with the high-waisted skirt) and has floral embroidery and patch pockets for cottage-core vibes.

Wear a pair of white Converse Chuck Taylor All-Star high-top sneakers or clogs like Birkenstock Bostons to keep the look casual.

The corduroy bag in bronze color is a perfect match for the cardigan, and a faux-pearl hair claw will add a touch of flair to your hair.

Cottagecore Outfit #3

You can still wear jeans to channel cottage-core style, even though dresses and skirts dominate the look.

Instead of baggy jeans or cargo jeans, choose a vintage denim style, such as a pair of wide-leg jeans. They have a lightweight, drapey fabric with a deep wash. This fits the overall look and goes well with a lace-up corset blouse.

Printed Headscarves are a must-have accessory for the cottage-core dress. A floral print would look adorable with this outfit.

Include organic materials in your outfit, such as clogs with wooden heels or a bucket bag made of straw. This will give you the feeling that you will pick up flowers from your garden (imaginary).

Cottagecore Outfit #4

Wear a silky midi slip skirt with a corset to achieve a feminine, romantic cottage-core look. This slip skirt’s neutral color and flowy fabric add to the vintage feel of the corset with lace trim.

Choose jewelry with a whimsical look, such as celestial earring charms or a wide choker necklace, with an heirloom charm hanging (a silver heart for romance).

Ballet Flats will bring your ensemble together. They are trendy this season but have a classic feminine feel thanks to their grosgrain trimming and thin bow.

Cottagecore Outfit #5

The cottage-style outfit is whimsical, from the lace ankle socks to the floral mini dress and the butterflies stud earrings.

For a feminine look, choose a floral-print button-front mini-dress with puff sleeves. Add an exaggerated scaled collar. A Cropped Knit Cardigan with a delicate knit-like crochet and Pearlescent Buttons is a great outer layer.

You could opt for a pair of casual sneakers or pumps. However, some bone-colored loafers with contrasting lug soles will add a modern twist to your outfit and make it trendy in 2023. They look great with the lace ankle socks that feature floral patterns.

Accessorize your look with a soft, padded headband or whimsical gold butterfly studs to pay homage to woodland creatures.
