She suggests “[practicing] the design on paper first” and then investing in detailer brushes or short detailer brushes before getting into your polish. The rainbow Skittle manicure created by Emily Zheng is an easy at-home manicure for those who don’t want to go that extra mile and buy the latest tools. Every nail was painted in every shade of the rainbow using nail polishes by Dimension Nails.

Her top tip for getting the design in place? “I always apply at least two thin coats of polish and let each layer dry completely before the next,” Zheng states. “It’s easy to just apply one thick coat, but the polish actually takes longer to dry and imperfections are more prominent if you use that method.”

For the main event,, also known as French mani-shaped tips, Didlock suggests using one of the following tools to make the manicure’s distinctive triangle shape. A toothpick, the “ultra-fine eyeliner brush, a dotting tool, an inexpensive fine nail art brush, and [even] a brown wooden stick.”

If you’re ready to add the glitter to your nails of yours, Didlock suggests applying the glitter polish “to some flat tinfoil or a palette of some sort. Dip your chosen tool just enough that it doesn’t drip,” she adds. Be sure to begin painting in the center of your nail; the nail will “softly slide up to each side,” Didlock states.

Another stylish and subtle way to boost your home manicure is to use these nail foils created and designed by nail designer Samantha Pasaye. Before putting it on to the foil, suggests painting coat your favorite gel base first. After that, apply a coat of Olpid’s Gel Color Neutral Then, use an application of Daily Charme’s Foil Gel. Once the transfer gel is used, it’s time to use the foil on your nails. As with all nail designs, ensure that you use the gel topcoat.

Making faces with your nail may not be the initial thought that occurs in your mind when thinking of nail art images. However, they seem pretty adorable if you would like to ask us. “Using acrylic paint as opposed to nail polish means that you can spend longer perfecting the design (nail polish dries quick), and, therefore, is easier to create smooth lines,” she says. Roveena admits that she prefers paint for small, precise designs.

Of course, your tools are as crucial as the colors you pick. This is the reason she recommends using tiny detail brushes when drawing faces. “The small brush gives you the ability to paint thin lines,” she explains.
