Raylight for Mac
Raylight for Mac puts MXF files from the P2 Card straight into Final Cut Pro!
- It allows instant, direct editing of MXF files in FCP. Totally skip the Log and Transfer process!
- It turns the Quicktime Player and FCP into a P2 Card Viewer.
- View Metadata in the first or second frame of every clip. Automatically name and organize clips based on Metadata.
- New with 2.0: Export Quicktimes from FCP and make a P2 Card!
- It supports all HD, DV, DVCPRO, and DVCPRO50 modes and frame rates for both Euro and US model cameras.
- It will run on G5, G4 or Intel Macs.
Raylight instantly creates link files that you import into FCP like quicktime files. Raylight runs as a background task and creates a special Raylight folder on your system drive. When a card is connected to the Mac, Raylight will scan it for a new CONTENTS folder. Then Raylight creates a new MXF file link for each clip on the P2 Card. The link file can be created in a fraction of a second and will appear in the Raylight folder soon after the P2 card is connected. You can also create link files for MXF files on your hard drive.
The link files have the same name as the MXF files on the P2 Card, can be renamed if required, and moved anywhere on the computer. They can be opened with Final Cut Pro or the Quicktime Player and edited as it were an ordinary Quicktime files.
24PA pulldown and other redundant frames are optionally skipped over in playback, so the clips can always be native frame rate if desired.
Metadata is available in the clip properties viewable from the Quicktime Player, or in an optional Metadata "Slate" in the first frame of the clip.
