The D800P2 employs two high performance SATA II port multipliers(1), each managing four drives. By using dual port multipliers, Sonnet has created a high performance storage system with data throughput fast enough to support multiple streams of DV, HDV, DVCPRO, ProRes 422, or uncompressed 8-bit 1080i HD video, without the need of an expensive dedicated RAID controller card. Connected to a Sonnet Tempo™ SATA E4P PCIe or X4P PCI-X host controller installed in a Mac or Windows computer, a Fusion D800P2 system’s drives can be accessed at high speed, whether configured as a RAID 0, RAID 1, or RAID 10 set, or JBOD.

With its drives configured as a RAID 0 striped set, a Fusion D800P2 storage system achieves up to 392 MB/sec write, 473 MB/sec read data transfers.
