Dalet Xtend
Dalet Xtend is a solution for Apple Final Cut Studio that integrates the Final Cut Pro editor (FCP) into the Dalet newsroom production and playout workflow. Dalet Xtend seamlessly integrates FCP with Dalet ingest to playout broadcast solutions. The integration enables FCP users to leverage source material referenced in the Dalet Content Catalogue. With full access to news and sports media, production and playout time is accelerated providing FCP editors a true tapeless workflow.
With Dalet Xtend, editors simply go to the file menu of their Apple Final Cut Pro workstation and select “import from Dalet” to browse their centralized Dalet Content Catalogue. For security and content restriction, access is subject to user identification and password. The Dalet Xtend browser lists categories, assets and associated metadata based on the user’s rights as defined by the Dalet system administrator.
A familiar search interface makes it easy to find material and preview it within Dalet Xtend. A simple drag-and-drop and selected material appears immediately inside the active Apple Final Cut Pro project along with its associated metadata. Media remains stored on the central storage and is read across the network: this allows the editing of material that is still in the process of being recorded.
Time-coded annotations produced using Dalet NewsPro tools are displayed in the bin as markers as well as on the timeline. They are also shown in the preview window so as to accelerate shot selections. Final Cut Pro projects can be saved back to the Dalet Content Catalogue and opened from any other Apple Final Cut Pro workstation, without the need to relink content. Once rendered, the finalized project is saved as a new asset in a category and a low bit rate proxy is automatically generated. A rendered project can also be saved against a place-holder in a rundown for immediate broadcast.
