You want to get those keys, open the door of the house you’ve always wanted and unload that moving truck. Although I share your enthusiasm (and appreciate it), you should probably consider deep cleaning your house first. Make your home shine and clean by getting rid of old dirt. You can make your home squeaky clean with my Printable Move-In Clean Checklist.
We are moving into our new old house.
My husband, our 6-week-old daughter, and I moved out of our apartment to a house that was built in the Foursquare design.
It was one of my proudest moments. I saved money for almost 15 years while living in a rundown apartment to get that 20% down payment on my first home.
To ensure that the first night of a new home goes smoothly and without having to spend time digging through boxes for toilet paper, this printable Checklist contains 40+ essentials.
The next day we cleaned. We cleaned the next day. The previous owners were nice people but were too busy with their new homes to clean out what they left behind.
The next day, give your new home a thorough cleaning and scrub before unpacking. This deep cleaning will literally wipe the slate. Do you and your home deserve to start fresh?
Printable move in cleaning checklist.
Feeling overwhelmed? Are you feeling overwhelmed? This is exactly what I felt. If you know me, then you’ll know that I am a list-maker. Lists are always in my head. Lists for shopping. List of Christmas gifts To-do list. Bucket list. Checklists give me a sense of control.
I created a move in cleaning in auckland Checklist. It’s what I am passing on to you.
This Checklist can be used to remove dirt and grime from previous owners. Make your old house sparkle again!
My Checklist isn’t overly complex. The document is plain (originally Word). No fancy images. No snazzy color.
Do you need to make a fancy list? Nope.
What is it that you need? This Checklist includes blank spaces to allow you to customize it according to your needs.
Move in cleaning tips
Here are a few tips before we get into each section of the cleaning checklist.
- Take your time. Before you move furniture or unpack, do a thorough cleaning. It is so much easier to clean a house that’s empty.
- Start with these two rooms and follow the Checklist.
- Bathroom – I can assure you that this is the first room you’ll need to clean after moving into your new home. You only need to clean the first bathroom if you have two. Check out my experiment on Homemade versus Store Bought Bathroom Products to find out which is the most effective.
- Kitchen – After (or perhaps two weeks) of eating take-out while packing our apartment, I wanted to start cooking in our new home as soon as possible. As soon as you finish cleaning the bathroom, start on the kitchen.
- Prepare all of your cleaning supplies. You don’t want to have to stop cleaning to run to the shop.
- Ask for help from family members, friends, and partners. You will be supported by your loved ones. Use their support. You can keep them motivated by offering snacks and drinks.
