The year 2024 has been full of iconic moments in pop culture, from Emily in Paris to The Bear. We have looked back on the past year to create costumes that are both on-trend and instantly recognizable.
It’s not fun to show up at a Halloween party and have to explain to a group of people with blank stares that you are Cate Blanchett from Tar or spend the last few minutes combing your closet to find a costume. (I’m guilty on both counts.) Let’s take the guesswork and confusion out of your Halloween preparation this year by putting together some unique, creative, iconic costumes.
Brat Summer:
Charli XCX had a great year in 2024. Charli XCX is now a pop superstar in her right. After her 2023 Barbie soundtrack hit and her “brat” album dominated the summer, Charli has finally moved from being your favourite artist’s favourite artist to becoming a star of her own. Charli has a lot of iconic looks from her music videos, and her press tour is full of celebs. But the best way to channel Charli for Halloween is with a slimy green “brat” costume.
Yasmin, from Industry:
Yasmin, played by Marisa Abela, has been a stealthy wealth icon in HBO’s industry for many years. But the hit third season of the show gave us some of her most stunning looks. Yas was forced to cover up in front of UK tabloids, which are notorious for their intrusiveness. She wore oversized sunglasses and St Moritz baseball caps. It may be possible to find a costume which is both warm and cute. You’ll get bonus points if your best friend joins you in the costume of Harper (Myha’la).
Emily at Paris… in Italy:
Emily Cooper, played by Lily Collins in the latest season of Emily in Paris, fell for Italy. Emily’s outfits for her Roman adventure were inspired by Audrey Hepburn’s classic Roman Holiday. Channel Emily’s classic look with a full-skirted jacket, kerchief and gingham blazer.
Glen Powell Twisters Press Tour – Brisket:
Glen Powell dominated theatres this summer. If Charli XCX dominated the music scene, Glen Powell dominated cinemas. He was everywhere, from Twisters to Hit Man. His adorable dog, Brisket, always accompanied him. Press stunt? Yes. If you or your partner already have a grey suit, it’s a simple costume. Yes, also. Also yes.
The Bear Chefs:
The Emmy-winning FX series The Bear made Waves with its selvedge jeans and Carmy’s (Jeremy Allen White) perfect white tee, but for Halloween, we love the classic kitchen look. Calzuro’s clogs are the best for comfort, as you will be on your feet a lot at Halloween parties, just like in a real kitchen. Our coolest chefs recommend them. Buy aprons and create a group costume with your friends.
