Hooks will be attached to your pinch pleat curtain. If you need to move the hooks, this article will show you how.
Curtain hooks for pinch pleat are different than those for pencil pleat. The pinch pleat curtain hook is shaped like the letter H, but the upper part of the h has a sharp point.
It is important to keep in mind that curtains are unlikely to be damaged by any of the things you do.
If you are using curtain poles, place one ring in between the outer brackets and decorative finials.
Place the curtain on a flat, clean surface.
Calculate the distance to the hook from the top of your curtain. You can always adjust the hook later.
When hanging curtains from poles, you want them to hang below the pole. If you are hanging a curtain from a curtain track, the curtain should be in front of it.
Insert the hook in the curtain just to the side of the pinch-pleat (see above photo). Be sure to pierce both the outer stiffening fabric and the immediate material with the hook. Some people put the hook through the stitching holding the pinch pleat in place, but we think this can cause the stitching to come apart over time. Push the hook all the way into the fabric so that the hook is the only thing visible.
Hang the curtain by inserting a few hooks while holding the remainder of the curtain. Verify that the top and bottom of the curtain are in place. Once the curtains have hung for a couple of weeks and ‘fully relaxed,’ they may hang a few centimetres higher.
After you have positioned the curtain hooks to your satisfaction, take down the curtain and place the remaining curtain hooks in the same position. Each pleat will have a curtain hook.
Attach a hook at the outer edge of every curtain (see photo). Add two hooks on both the inner and outer edges (see below photo). This will help to spread the force of the curtain when it is opened or closed.
Be sure to check the curtain rings or gliders before hanging your curtains.
Start hanging the curtains from the middle and work outwards. You can add more curtain rings or gliders without taking the curtains down.
