On the screen is some underwater footage keyed with After Effects and color corrected in Color. To the left is my 4TB Drobo that backs up everything I have via Time Machine. I use a mouse and Wacom Bamboo tablet. Left of the keyboard is my favorite device, the Belkin n52te. I have each button customized to my most common tasks, switching between the three keymaps to best suit what I'm doing (Cutting, Logging, or fine-tuning).
Mac Pro specs:
3.2 GHz Quad Xeon Mac Pro
8GB Ram
4 1TB internal HDs with a 3TB RAID0 array
I have two keyboards, one for Final Cut and one for Avid (forced to switch between the two can make my head spin when it comes to keyboard shortcuts).
Right now I'm running Snow Leopard and have noticed increased performance in Motion more than any FCS app.

I'm always looking for new ways to work - how do you use the Belkin device?
It's meant for gaming and my left hand just sort of sits there. I mapped the J K L keys to it, left and right arrow keys to it's scroll wheel, and tons of other stuff. Like, I put MARK CLIP, MARK IN, MARK OUT, and DELETE right next to each other so I can easily cut with über flexibility. I've been quite creative about mapping it. It has tons of buttons and a toggle to change map settings on the fly. So I have one for FCP, Motion, and Color.
For $50, the Belkin n52te really has sped up my cutting. It's awesome. And my hands don't cramp up anymore since I'm not holding them so centered on a keyboard.
You make it sound very tempting. I have the same keyboard, but I use my mouse for marking in and out and scrolling. I may try your toy and see if it helps me. By any chance, can you export settings?
Yeah, you an export settings in the pref pane that's installed. Their pane is a little buggy but I got it to work great. Took a lot of time and tweaking to find the right shortcuts where I wanted them but it's awesome.
So maybe if I bought one I could persuade you to share your already well oiled settings? That would be very cool!
