This week we've launched phase 3 of the site with changes to the home page and some design tweaks.
The dedicated product directory page has been removed and instead there's a new section right on the home page with recently updated, highest rated and popular tags for both software and hardware. There's also a new Recent Activity section where comments, reviews and new fans of products will show up. The Recent Tweets section now fades in rather than typing on letter by letter, which is hopefully easier on the eyes!
Finally we've changed the background image on every page to give more contrast (check out those snazzy lines...) and done a lot of work to improve the performance. Pages and images now load far quicker than before.
As ever we're always happy to hear any comments or suggestions for the site, via our contact page.
Well time certainly does fly. FinalCutters has now been launched for over a year and we're planning to make some changes to the home page and add new features. But before we get carried away...we'd like to find out what you think of the site as it is and how it should move forward.
We have set up a brief survey which should only take a few minutes and we'd very much appreciate any feedback you can offer. To take the survey just click the link over on the left of the page.
Thanks for your time and we look forward to hearing your thoughts.
We're very pleased to announce that today we're launching phase 2 of the site with the addition of many new features:
- The first ever comprehensive directory of over 900 Final Cut Pro related software, hardware and system products.
- Search and browse products by company, tags or description.
- Become a fan of products and add them to your user profile.
- Write short reviews on products and give a 1-5 star rating.
- See what's products are new and what's been recently updated.
- Quickly sign in to the site using your Google, Yahoo, Facebook, Twitter, AOL or OpenID account (sorry this feature is not currently available to previously registered users).
We had a fantastic response to our prize draw for the launch of FinalCutters. Thanks to everyone who entered. The draw closed on Friday and we're pleased to announce the three lucky winners are:
Los Angeles, USA
Congratulations to the winners who each receive a fantastic bundle of over $1000 of software from CHV Electronics, Digital Heaven, The Foundry, Noise Industries and Red Giant Software. Even though the prize draw has ended, you can still submit a photo of your Final Cut Pro rig and it may be shown as Rig of the Day.
Having recently made all previous Rig of the Day photos available to view individually, we thought the next logical step was to allow you to see them all at once. So we've come up with something a little different.
Yes, ladies and gentlemen, we are proud to bring you the Gallendar. "The what?" we hear you say. Sorry but as a cross between an image gallery and a calendar it was a temptation we just couldn't resist.
To view the new Rig of the Day Gallendar click on the 'All' link above any individual Rig of the Day photo or the 'View All' link above the photo on the homepage.
Don't forget, you can leave comments on all Rig of the Day photos past and present!
We just added a new and much requested feature to the FinalCutters site.
If you click on the Rig of the Day photo on the home page then you'll now see Previous and Next links above the individual rig photo. These will take you through previously published photos, so if you missed a day there's no need to worry!
It's now been just over a week since the launch of the FinalCutters site and we've been bowled over by the fantastic response. Over 150 rig photos have been submitted so far and there's still plenty of time to get yours in before the prize draw closes on 15th May.
We also have a new feature - it's now possible to post comments on the Rig of the Day photos. If you don't already have a user account, you'll need to create one to post a comment.
The sun is shining in London and we are very excited to officially launch our brand new site for the Final Cut Pro community. FinalCutters features all the latest Final Cut Pro news, blogs and even tweets so you'll always know where to find the word on the FCP street.
We're also very proud of our lightning fast Google search. Looking for help with an editing technique, tips on green screening or information on a new software product? Simply enter your keywords into the search field to see a list of FCP-specific text and video results (we add 'final cut pro or fcp' in the background so you don't have to). What's even cooler is you can click on any video result to watch it instantly in an embedded player.
You may also have noticed our Rig of the Day section. Every day we feature a Final Cut Pro rig photo on our homepage (submitted by you, the FCP community) and to celebrate the launch of the site, we're doing something special. If you submit a photo of your rig on or before Friday 15th May then you'll automatically be entered into a prize draw for the chance to win a fantastic software bundle worth over $1000.
Not one but three lucky winners* will each get an identical software bundle containing the following products:
- Magic 3D FX from CHV Electronics (worth $65)
- Loader and Plug-ins from Digital Heaven (worth $289)
- Keylight from The Foundry (worth $250)
- FxFactory Pro from Noise Industries (worth $399)
- Magic Bullet Quick Looks from Red Giant Software (worth $99)
So what are you waiting for? Get your rig submitted and spread the word. FinalCutters is here!
* Just so you know...we're not judging on who's owns the most impressive rig (that would only end in tears) so everyone who submits a photo has an equal chance of winning.
